Birthday Bash
As we get older, the feeling of going back to school becomes exciting and a feeling of eagerness takes over us, rather than dreading the start of another school year. I on the other hand have ALWAYS had a love/hate relationship with the month of August. August meant back to school but it also meant...my birthday! I have gone to a catholic school ever since kindergarten which meant my birthday always fell on the first week of school🙄 . As the years went on I really didn't mind it as much, especially during high-school because friends would decorate my locker and bring all kinds of treats to school. Freshman year at Lewis my birthday fell on the second weekend of the school year, and I had already planned to go home that weekend. Basically my 18th was a very boring birthday which was really disappointing because everyone that really knows me knows I take my birthday very seriously. On the first of August as a joke I would start celebrating my "birthday month". This year my birthday fell on the first weekend back at Lewis and I so excited to be back with all my friends celebrating. Sadly, on the morning of August 26th my family was suppose to come down and go have brunch with me, but ofcourse they didn't wake up on time. But regardless of that incident, it was an unforgettable birthday weekend.
This labor day weekend I decided to go home for a day, mainly so that I can bring back leftovers, but my family decided to throw me a little surprise bbq party. They decorated the backyard with balloons and lights. My uncle grilled every food possible; chicken, carne asada, burgers, hotdogs, and pork chops. My aunt got me my favorite cake pictured above, tiramisu and like every year, my uncle showed my face right in. There might be nothing special about turning 19 but my family and friends made sure the past week was memorable. The countdown now begins, 355 days left to go.

I think it's great that you like celebrating your birthday. It's an awesome feeling when even just for one day, or in your case, a whole week, you feel special! You go girl!
ReplyDeleteReading your blog showed me that you really love your birthday! I'm glad you had a great birthday this year. I enjoyed reading your blog and that cake looks delicious :)
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday! I agree- 19 is such an irrelevant age. But I'm glad you were able to celebrate it and have fun. Birthdays are super important and it's nice to see someone loves celebrating their birthday as much as I do.
ReplyDeleteI think it's awesome that you took a negative (your birthday landing on the beginning of school), and always turned it into a positive experience because birthdays come once a year and it would be a shame if someone were to throw that day away.
